Joan Lingyak McManus, 81, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at home, surrounded by her family. A lifetime resident of the Camillus area, she was born on Tuesday, January 20, 1931 and was the daughter of Gustav Lingyak and Hazel Jennings Lingyak. She was a 1949 graduate of Camillus High School and attended OCC and Auburn Community College. Joan retired from GTE in Camillus in 1985 after 25 years. A communicant of Holy Family Church, she was also a member of the Camillus Elks Auxiliary. She enjoyed golf, and was an avid traveler and SU sports fan. She spent many years in Florida. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts, having attended many craft sales where she sold her creations. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Leonard “Lenny” on May 17, 2009 and by her sisters, Mary Petosa and Kathy Arcaro. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Raymond Riddett of Warners, Karen and Paul Skardinski of Camillus, Denise and Jeffery Hanson of Livermore, California, and Deborah McManus of San Ramon, California; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Allyson McManus of Fulton and Timothy and Rachel McManus of Liverpool; sister, Nancy Spillett of Camillus; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, December 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 24 at 9 a.m. in Holy Family Church. Joan will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
