Joan (Kleffner) Sweeney, 91, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017. Born in Portsmouth, OH, she graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in Portsmouth and the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN. Joan was employed with various school districts, including West Genesee, for 15 years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church, enjoyed music and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson.
Joan was predeceased by her husband, James, in 2010; and sister, Rita Hare.
Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Bill) Thompson of Liverpool and Nancy (Terry Pierson) Sweeney of Onondaga Hill; grandchildren, Sarah (Jackson) Sweeney and Justin Thompson; great-grandson, Kieran Sweeney; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, December 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Monday, December 11 at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home and 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Joan will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
