Jo Ann Ritchie

Jo Ann Ritchie, 82, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Wednesday. Born and raised in Utica, she moved to the Syracuse area in 1977. Jo Ann enjoyed a fulfilling career as an X-ray technician for over 20 years, retiring in 2003. She had a passion for sewing, quilting, and camp at Verona Beach, but her greatest joy came from spending cherished moments with her family.

Jo Ann was predeceased by her husband, Harry; son, Thomas (Lisa); parents, Dennis and Doris McCarthy; brothers, Jack (Carol) McCarthy and Edward (Jean) McCarthy; and brother-in-law, Dick Lupia.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (Melissa) Ritchie; daughter, Mary Godin; grandchildren, Jeff and Jack Ritchie, Nicole and Ryan Godin, and Kyle and Samantha Updegrove; great-grandchild, Elaina Louise Ritchie; sister, Katherine Lupia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To celebrate Jo Ann’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 1 W. Main St., Marcellus. 

Jo Ann will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local SPCA.
