Jeanne Claremont Billy, 81, of Camillus, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at Community General Hospital. Born in Gabriels, New York on Monday, May 13, 1929, she was the daughter of Albert Claremont and Mary Titus Claremont. She moved to Syracuse in 1947. Jeanne graduated from Saranac Lake High School and was voted the most beautiful girl in her graduating class. She also was a graduate of Central City Business Institute. Jeanne worked at Crouse-Hinds in the Personnel Department where she met her husband, Paul. She later retired as senior vice president in 1995 after 28 years with Gallinger Real Estate. A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Jeanne was a member of several bridge clubs and founded a women’s investment group. She was the first female member of the Syracuse Rotary Club. She enjoyed knitting and reading, especially cookbooks and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jeanne was predeceased by her brother, Albert “Bud” Claremont Jr. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Paul; daughters and son-in-law, Linda Billy Sorbello of Camillus and Lisa Billy Blessis and Tom Blessis of Granby, Connecticut; son, Scott of Johannesburg, South Africa; grandchildren, Brian Sorbello, Emily (Vic) LimaDeAngelis, Chelsea and Katherine Blessis; great-granddaughter, Sophia; sisters, Shirley Oehler of Gabriels, and Carolyn Mathews of Plattsburg; several nieces and nephews; and several dear friends. There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 3 in St. Joseph’s Church. Jeanne will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. Arrangements are by Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one's favorite charity.
