Jean Mahoney Eustis, 83, of Camillus, formerly of Adams, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Upstate University Hospital at Community General. A graduate of Nottingham High School, Jean was employed as a teacher’s assistant for several years at South Jefferson High School. She was co-founder of the Friends of Maxwell Memorial Library in Camillus.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Richard C. Eustis Jr. in 1989; parents, Dr. John and Dorothy Mahoney; sisters, Joyce Curry in 2013 and Judy Morgillo in 2016; and sister-in-law, Constance Eustis Weseloh.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara (Joel) Colburn of Syracuse and Jan Eustis of Marietta, GA; sons, Richard (Jacqueline) Eustis III of Cuba, NY and Dr. John A. (Gayle) Eustis of Burlington, VT; brothers, J. Edward Mahoney of Marcellus and James A. Mahoney of FL; grandchildren, Paige (Marty) Eustis, Dr. T. Rene Dodd (Chris Walter), Stephanie Lyons and Kailei and Kacey Eustis; great-grandchildren, Makenzie Pena and Alexander Tobias and Permelia Jean Eustis; brothers-in-law, Todd Weseloh of Syracuse, Jerry Curry of Camillus and Clem Morgillo of Camillus; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Nikki and the staff at Summerfield Village, ICU nurses, Ashley and Summer, and the fifth floor rehabilitation staff, both of Community Hospital, and St. Camillus rehabilitation staff.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, August 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
