Janet (Grant) Leeb, Ph.D.

Janet (Grant) Leeb, Ph.D., 93, of Onondaga Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday at home. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, she was a proud alumna of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic High School and later earned her Ph.D. from Syracuse University. Janet dedicated over 28 years as a professor at Syracuse University College of Nursing. A devoted communicant of the Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, she was an active member of the Bethany League and the Resurrection Choir. Janet’s commitment to service extended to many organizations, including the Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team, and the Women of the University Community at Syracuse University, where she played a vital role on numerous committees and chaired the scholarship program.

Janet's passions included playing bridge, where she competed and medaled in the senior games, and she was an enthusiastic reader. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, cherishing every moment together.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, Philip; daughter-in-law, Barbara Leeb; parents, Edward and Viola Grant; sister, Carol Roock; and many close family friends.

Surviving are her son, Grant (Mary) of Waynesville, OH; daughter, Kristen Ann Leeb of Syracuse; son, Eric (Jeanne-Marie) of Middle Village; grandchildren, Graham (Jeanette), Erin, and Janet Leeb; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Brienne Leeb; the Roock families; and loving canine companion, Dickens.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, 4781 W. Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse. 

A private burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
