Janet B. (Heaney) Carr, 90, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Saturday, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Syracuse, Janet spent time living in Utica before returning to Syracuse, the place she always called home. She was a graduate of Vocational High School and had a strong work ethic that carried her through a long and dedicated career. Janet worked at Carrier Corp., Val’s Motors in Lakeland, Super Duper Supermarkets in Liverpool, and spent over 15 years at Steel Treaters before retiring in 2000.
Beyond her career, Janet found joy in cooking and watching her favorite cooking shows, always eager to try new recipes. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, but above all, her greatest passion was her family. She was an advocate for those she loved and cherished every moment spent with her family and extended family.
Janet was predeceased by her parents, James and Blanche Heaney; son, Christopher; brothers, James, John, and Thomas Heaney; and sister, Joyce Heaney.
Surviving are her loving husband of 68 years, Kermit; sons, Timothy (Tina) of Roanoke, VA, and Terrance (Tricia) of Syracuse; grandchildren, CJ, Kevin (Erica), Christian, and Cameron; sister, Blanche (David) Mosher of Pompano Beach, FL; dear family friend, Marie Herrling of Camillus; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care she received from the dedicated staff at University Hospital and Elderwood at Liverpool. They are also deeply thankful to Rev. Zachary Miller of Christ the King Church for his spiritual support and kindness during this time.
