Jane Rose McEntegart Dooher passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday with her family by her side. Jane was born in New York City and grew up in Great Neck, New York. She graduated from St. Elizabeth's College as a math major. Jane’s first job was at Bell Laboratories, working on the NIKE missile project. She married Martin Dooher in 1958 and settled in Camillus where she raised her family. After raising her children, Jane continued her career, working at Empire Freezers until her retirement. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved attending all her grandchildren's sporting, musical and dance events. Jane volunteered at Francis House for 10 years and at Community General Hospital for 15 years. An active communicant of Holy Family Church, Jane was a Eucharistic minister, lector, worked on funeral lunches, and was a member of the Holy Family Bingo Team.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Martin, in 1993; son, Martin Jr., in 1975; sisters, Margie Ludecker and Patricia Murphy; and cousins, Eileen McEntegart and Mary Welch.
Surviving are her daughter, Ellen (Joseph) Percival; son, Patrick (Judith) Dooher; grandchildren, Sean (Katherine), Elizabeth (Evan), and Shannon; four great-grandchildren; cousins, Kathleen McEntegart, and Rev. G. Peter Worn; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to the caring staff at Camillus Ridge Terrace for taking care of their mother for the past four years and to the nurses and doctors at Upstate Community Hospital who cared for her in her final days.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, May 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 28 at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr., Syracuse.
Jane will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
