James “Jim” Curry, 63, of Camillus, passed away Friday. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, he was a 1976 graduate of West Genesee High School. Jim graduated from Niagara University in 1980, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He began his career at The Post Standard in 1981, where he worked in advertising for 41 years. A dedicated colleague and worker, Jim developed lasting friendships during his time at The Post Standard and Advance Media New York. He was proud of the work he did and loved the people he worked with. He just recently celebrated his retirement in December. Jim was the family historian and photographer, always taking photos at every family event and preserving memories that we will always cherish. Jim loved the outdoors, his computers, and video games. He carried on his dad Jerry’s passion for the Buffalo Bills, never missing a game. He was an amazing son, friend, co-worker, and uncle. Jim was loved by all who had the pleasure to meet him, had a smile that would light up a room, and was always making his friends and family laugh. He was quick-witted, funny and insightful. He gave freely of his time, love and attention to his family and friends.
Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Joyce (Mahoney) and James "Jerry" Curry for whom he was a caregiver until their passing.
Jim is survived by his sister, Joanne Humphrey; nieces, Jamie (Alex) Abdo; Christie (Dan) Bernardi, Meagan Humphrey (Alex Deardorff) and Hannah Humphrey; and great-nieces, Olivia, Emma, Bella and Amelia.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, March 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. at church.
Jim will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery in Warners.
