James "Jim" Santamour, 96, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Elderwood Health Care at Birchwood. Born in Antwerp, he was a graduate of Poland Central School and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He lived in Camillus since 1957.
Jim was employed with Borden, Inc. for 41 years, retiring in 1987. A longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Church, he served many years as an altar server. He was a commander of the Camillus American Legion 1540, and also a member of the VFW, Marine League, Republican Committee and the Golden Agers, but above all he loved spending time with his family.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, June, in 2015; sisters, Nellie Hodge, Monica Kennedy, Edith Cook and Millicent Coffin; and brothers, William and Lynn.
Surviving are his daughters, Sharron (James) McMaster, Susan (Gerald) Halloran and Maureen (Mark) Soutar; sons, James Jr. (Rix Harding) and Timothy (Peter Engelbrecht); sisters, Jane (Angelo) Episito, Clara Hill, Ellen (Varnum) Harris, Patricia (Sam) Rotella, Theresa Santamour and Linda (Donald) Hennings; brother, Miles (Albert Maghbouleh); and grandchildren, Amy McMaster Andrews, Joseph McMaster, Gerald Halloran, Kara Halloran and Phillip Raymond.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, October 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 5600 West Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in the church. James will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
