James "Pops" Mason, 92, of Camillus, passed away Sunday at McHarrie Life Senior Center. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a Navy veteran of WWII. Jim retired from the N.Y. Telephone Co. after more than 30 years as a lineman. He loved golf and belonged to many local golf courses, including Bellevue and Tuscarora. His best times after retirement, were spent at his camp on Lake Ontario with family and friends. Jim was predeceased by his wife, the former Mabel Mosher, 2011; daughter-in-law, Connie Mason, 2012; and son-in-law, Wes Najdul, 1999. Surviving are his daughter, Kathy (Gerry) Wilkert of Marcellus; son, Jay Mason of Camillus; grandchildren, Amy (Rick) Barranco of Orlando, FL, Matt (Julie) Mason of Mexico, and Lisa (Brandon Lewis) Mason of Rhinebeck; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Private burial will be at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
