James “Jim” Barry Draveck DDS, 60, of Camillus, passed away Saturday at Upstate University Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a 1979 graduate of West Genesee High School, class of 1983 at Le Moyne College and 1987 graduate of Georgetown University School of Dentistry. Jim owned his own dental practice for 28 years. Always bettering his profession, he was a member of the NYS Dental Association, 5th District Dental Society and earned the Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry award. He was a member of the Elbridge Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed playing guitar, fixing cars, reading, fishing, boating, skiing, shooting, and renovating houses with his wife, Sue.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Donald Draveck.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Susan Lorenzo; mother, Marilyn Barry Draveck; sons, James “Seamus”, Connor, and Max; brothers, D. Andrew (Maryanne) Draveck; Michael (Kelly) Draveck; Peter (Kristen) Draveck; and Thomas (Tracey) Draveck.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, January 5 from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 5600 W. Genesee St., Camillus, 13031. A funeral mass will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Face masks are required. To attend the funeral Mass remotely, please visit, stjosephcamillus.org/live-stream, at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
