James “Jim” B. McKenney Jr., 76, of Solvay, passed away Tuesday morning, July 23, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was a devoted husband and father. Jim was active in his community through the Solvay Tigers and Solvay Volunteer Fire Department. He also coached soccer for his sons’ youth soccer teams. Jim graduated from St. Anthony’s School and served his country as a Navy photographer for four years. He worked in station maintenance at Niagara Mohawk for over 30 years. After retirement, Jim worked in the receiving department at Wegmans Onondaga for 12 years. He loved telling jokes and stories, spending time with family, traveling, playing Pitch and being with his dogs, Harley and Brutus.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, James and Lauretta McKenney; sister, Kathleen Orzell; and good friend and brother-in-law, Gary King.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Lorraine; children, Paula (Jason) Myers, Jim (Sandra) and Dave (Claire) McKenney; grandchildren, James and Sydney McKenney and Chelsey and Piper Myers; sister, Margaret Williams; sister-in-law, Suzanne King and her daughters, Mary Kirwan and Aimee Dehm; and several nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, July 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church. Jim will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Geddes.
