James “Jazz” Pontello, 29, of Syracuse, passed away Sunday in Syracuse. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a 2011 graduate of West Genesee High School. James was a mechanic for West Genesee Central School District for six years. He was president of The Life of Balance Motorcycle Club, a member of American Poolplayers Association, and earned his black belt at Tearney’s Martial Arts. He loved his dog and best friend, Goku.
James was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Helen and Carmen F. Pontello Sr.; maternal grandfather, James Titus; and uncle, Frank Fatti Jr.
Surviving are his parents, Kim and Carmen F. Pontello Jr. of Camillus; siblings, Morgan (Jon) Babo and Cara (Garrett) Lustrinelli, both of Camillus, Nina (Christina) Pontello of Rochester, and Carmen A. (Melissa) Pontello of Illinois; maternal grandmother, Janet Titus; niece, Nadzia Pontello; nephews, Carmen A. Pontello, Jr. and Joseph Lustrinelli; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, July 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
James will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
