James Patrick Corcoran Jr., 83 of Syracuse, NY, passed away on Saturday.
“Jim” was born in Syracuse, son of the late Gertrude Kellogg, and James Sr. of Syracuse.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Loretta (Schwoyer) Corcoran, two sons, Patrick (Pamela) Corcoran and William “Bill” Corcoran; daughter, Jeanne (Mark) Corcoran-Dellinger of Galloway, N.J.; brother, Michael (Carol) Corcoran of Skaneateles; and two granddaughters, Casey (Dan) Mitchell and Katelyn Corcoran of Syracuse.
Jim was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy and Onondaga Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Upon discharge, he served a five year apprenticeship in commercial photography for a local studio, photographing weddings on weekends then served another apprenticeship as an offset cameraman at Salina Press where he worked for 26 years. Jim then went to O.C.C, where he earned an associate’s degree in Human Services, and became employed as a service coordinator at AHEPA Senior Housing for another ten years before retiring.
Jim was a fourth degree life member of the Knights of Columbus at Council 4114, the Blinded Veterans of America, the National Federation of the Blind, Blind Veterans of Syracuse and a communicant of St. Ann's church.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, August 21 at St. Ann's Church, 4461 Onondaga Blvd., Syracuse from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the funeral Mass immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be on Tuesday, August 24 at 11 a.m. at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 4069 Howlett Hill Rd., Syracuse.
