James Michael Cornell, 70, of Syracuse, passed away recently at University Hospital following a long illness. A welder by trade, he held various positions over the years, beginning at Bender Ford in Syracuse. He was employed with Tessy Plastics, Universal Step and Concrete and most recently, Jacquith Industries.
James enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. Beyond being a "Jack-of-all-trades" he was very skilled at landscaping. He was an excellent baker, specializing in cakes and pies which he often shared with family, friends and neighbors.
James loved listening to music and had an eclectic range of musical interest. He also had a great sense of humor, most obvious to those who knew him well.
James was predeceased by his mother, Anne Karney, in 2001; and longtime companion, Kelly Moore, in 2014.
Surviving are his sister, Susan Karney of Taunton; beloved dog, Cheyanne; and several cousins.
