James “Jamie” G. Kinder, 47, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, he moved to Skaneateles as a small child. A proud graduate of Skaneateles High School, Jamie was a gifted athlete who excelled on the football field as a quarterback, on the pitcher’s mound in baseball, and as a forward on the basketball team. After graduation, he attended Phillips Exeter Academy for one year. Jamie went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Cornell University, where he did an exceptional job balancing his studies while taking care of his wife and newborn daughter. He was dedicated to the family business, MCK Building Associates, for over two decades, serving as vice president and co-owner for the last 10 years.
Jamie was also deeply committed to his faith and his community. A devoted member of Grace Chapel for 25 years, he volunteered in countless ways and served as a Sunday School teacher for 15 years, alongside his beloved wife, Chrissy. Additionally, he shared his love of sports as the KFFL Fantasy Football League commissioner for over 20 years.
Most of all, Jamie loved spending time with his family, especially his children. He will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, generous spirit, and quick wit, which touched the lives of all who knew him.
A special thank you to the Hematology-Oncology Associates of CNY staff for their special care of Jamie over the last few years.
Jamie was predeceased by his mother, Kathryn; and grandparents, Dick and Mary Kummer and George and Ruth Kinder.
Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Christine; daughter, Emilyn; son, Colin; father, Ted; sister, Ashleigh Kate (Sebastian) Ibañez; brother, Christopher (Laura); father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Kathleen Osborne; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
