James J. Sheldon, 85, of Lakeland, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Iroquois Nursing Home. Born in Solvay on Sunday, August 22, 1926, he was the son of Peter and Maria Sheldon. A lifetime resident of Camillus, he was an Army veteran of World War II. Jim retired from Allied Chemical and was a 40-year club member. He was also a member of the Solvay VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, winters in Florida and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Edith; children, James (Carol) Sheldon of Camillus, Cindy Dones of Fremont, California and Robert Sheldon of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. There will be no services. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospital, the 2nd floor staff of Iroquois Nursing Home and Hospice of CNY for their wonderful care.
