James J. Hayes

James J. “Jimbo” Hayes, 52, of Jordan, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at home. Born in Syracuse on Tuesday, August, 11 1959, he was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. Jim retired in 2007 after 29 years with Camillus Cutlery and most recently worked with McQuay International in Auburn for the last two years. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Syracuse. He loved sports, especially the Giants and Mets, and enjoyed golfing and cooking. Jim was predeceased by his father, James J. Hayes in 1979; and mother, Olive Edna Skay Hayes on 12/15/2006. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, the former Linda Greene; son, LCPL James J. Hayes II, stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina; daughter, Ashley L. Hayes of Syracuse; brothers, Rev. Dennis J. Hayes of Marietta and David J. (Larry) Hayes of Deerfield Beach, Florida; granddaughter, Gracie Lynn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Donald Greene; sister-in-law, Sharon (Michael) Hill-Jordan; brother-in-law, Bryan (Nancy) Greene; niece, Michele Hill; nephew, William Hill III; and stepnephews, Craig and Corey Jordan. Relatives and friends may call Friday, October 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 29 at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to St. Patrick's Church, 216 No. Lowell Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
