James E. Russell, 55, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at home. Born in Fulton on Saturday, April 14, 1956, he lived in Westvale and Marcellus most of his life and was a 1975 graduate of Westhill High School. Jim was dedicated to pastoral care at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center and St. Joseph's Hospital. He enjoyed golf and was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He was a devoted father. Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel and Thomas; and infant sister, Elizabeth. Surviving are his sons, Christopher and Nicholas, both of Skaneateles; parents, Margaret and William Russell of Syracuse; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Richard Castellini of Baldwinsville and Patricia and Denis LaPointe of Baldwinsville; brothers and sister-in-law, David and Gloria Russell of Knoxville, Tennessee and William Russell of Baldwinsville; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 3 in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Jim will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulton. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus.
