James C. Hayes

James C. Hayes, 82, of Van Buren, passed away peacefully on Friday. He was a lifetime resident of the Syracuse area. In his youth, Jim was an enthusiastic Boy Scout, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. His scholarly academic life earned him two master’s degrees. One in Psychology and one in Theology.
He used both in the service to others in a variety of venues. In his free time, Jim was an avid stamp collector. He also enjoyed hiking and vacationing along the Massachusetts shores in the summer. Jim had a special appreciation for lighthouses. He also enjoyed traveling to foreign lands with assorted tour groups.
He is survived by his special friend, Budi Mursalin.
There will be no calling hours. Services will be held in the spring. Jim will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the CNY SPCA, 5878 East Molloy Rd., Syracuse, NY 13211.
