Ivan Pototsky, 82, of Camillus, passed away peacefully Monday, March 31, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Krakow, Poland. After WW II, he moved to the Ukraine with his parents in 1946, at the age of 16. At the age of 20, he was called to serve in the military. In 1958, he married Anastasia Michaylechko and together they raised seven children. Ivan lived most of his life in the Ukraine and owned his own woodcarving business. He was a very talented artist. He moved to Camillus with his family on April 4th in 1990, and continued woodcarving as a hobby. He also enjoyed helping others in the community. He was an active member and treasurer of the First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Anastasia; daughters, Halina (Peter) Mayba of Camillus, Oksana (Nick) Timoshchuk of Chattanooga, TN, Ludmila (Anatoliy) Matsyuk of Solvay, and Nadia (Bogdan) Melnik of Camillus; sons, Vladimir (Lesya), Bogdan (Nadia) and Vasiliy (Nadia), all of Camillus; sisters, Olga Parukh and Hanna Pototsky, both of Ukraine; brothers, Stephen and Yaroslav, both of Syracuse, Peter of Virginia Beach, Mikhail of Ukraine and Nikolay of Moscow; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be Friday, April 4 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m. at First Ukrainian Pentecostal Church. Ivan will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
