Irving "Irv" W. Lane Jr., 91, formerly of Westvale, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Middletown, he was raised in Port Jervis and Elmira before moving to Syracuse in 1951. Irving was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was employed with the Herald Journal and retired from Le Moyne College. An avid sports fan, he loved SU, the Yankees and the NY Giants. Irv was a former member and deacon of Robinson Memorial Church. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, woodworking and umpiring men’s softball and his daughter’s WCAA softball league, but above all, loved spending time with his family.
Irv was predeceased by his wife, Betty, in 2004.
Surviving are his daughters, Patricia (Jeff) Gehm of Lakeland and Christine (James) Walters of Camillus; grandchildren, Amanda (Sean) Fahey of Camillus, Emily (Ben) Blumel of Virginia and Kaitlyn and Abigail Walters of Camillus; sister, Doris Martone of Branford, CT; brother, Edward of Orlando, FL; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 23 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will be Saturday, March 24 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Irv will be laid to rest in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal, NY.
