Irene F. Schumann, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at Cayuga County Nursing Home. Born in Burlington, New York, on Tuesday, August 22, 1922, she was the daughter of John Curtis Foote and Olive Telfer Foote. She spent most of her life in the Syracuse area. Irene retired from Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital as a unit receptionist. She enjoyed arts and crafts, especially needle work and quilting. She loved spending time with her family and dogs. Irene was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Benno Richard Schumann, in 1996; and sisters, Irma Foote and Theda Ferguson. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Rise Schumann of Marcellus, and Dr. Ronald and Choe Schumann of Beavercreek, Ohio; twin sister, Jeanne Wilber of Montpelier, Vermont; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Arrangements are by the Buranich Funeral Home, Camillus. Irene will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
