Inez Elizabeth Armani, 94, passed away on Saturday September 10. She was born on February 4, 1922 in Syracuse, and was the first person in her family to attend college.
Inez was a registered nurse who received training at St. Joseph's School of Nursing. She was also an educator, earning a B.S. in Nursing Education from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a Master's in Education from Syracuse University. While attending Syracuse University, Inez worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and upon graduation became a teacher at its School of Nursing, where she retired in 1989 as the school's assistant director.
Inez was known for her devotion to family and her ready willingness to help others in need. Her independence, sharp wit, and irrepressible spirit carried throughout her life. At age 91, while still living at her home in Westvale, she organized an Alaskan cruise that she took her family on.
Inez was predeceased by her husband, Edward, in 2009; son Christopher, in 1989; sister, Mary Salvagno; and brother, Bruno Paussa.
Surviving are her sons, John (Audrey) of Rochester, Michael (Kimberly) of Erieville, and Thomas (Denay) of Victoria, MN; grandchildren, Cassandra (Ian) Coyle, Laura, Cara, Elise, Julia, and Lauren Armani; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Coyle; brothers, Reno Paussa of Solvay and Alfred Paussa of Kansas City, MO (who has missed Inez since relocating in 1958); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Bernadine Ryan and Cheryl Libertone.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, September 18 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 19 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay. Inez will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
