Howard O. Craner, 83, of Camillus, passed away Saturday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and CCBI. He also attended Syracuse University and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Howard was employed by Haines Sales Corp. in East Syracuse for 35 years, retiring in 1991. An active member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, he was an avid SU fan, golfer and fisherman, especially at Battams Camp, Ontario, Canada. His family was the focal point of his life. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lucille (Vendetti) Craner; sons, David (Nancy) Craner and Peter (Joanne) Craner; daughters, Susan (Mark) Kent and Lisa Craner; grandchildren, Kristin, Julie, PJ, Pat, Matthew and Thomas; great-grandchildren, McKee and Blake; brother, Richard (Charlotte) Craner; sister, Linda (Joe) Scott; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, April 28 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Camillus. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Howard will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family.
