Howard Lohman, 92, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born and raised in Syracuse, he lived throughout the U.S. before coming back to Syracuse in 1997.
Howard attended SU and was employed as an engineer for over 40 years, which included working on the Alaskan Oil Line where he made friends from coast to coast. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed traveling and nature. He spoke fondly of caribou lying next to the oil line to keep warm in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Above all else, Howard loved spending time with his friends and family.
Howard was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, in 2004.
Surviving are his sister-in-law, Anne Schrank; nieces, Carol Schrank, Beverly Barrett and Diane (Bruce) Finney; nephews, Richard Schrank, Gerald (Cindy) Schrank and Kenneth (Christine) Schrank; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of B-Unit at The Centers at St. Camillus for their loving care and compassion.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, August 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Howard will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse.
