Howard C. Hallenbeck, 82, formerly of Camillus, and most recently of Altamont, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care in New Hartford. Howard was the son of Howard Hallenbeck and Gladys Mosher Hallenbeck. Born and raised in Herkimer and Hoosick Falls, he graduated from St. Mary's Academy. Howard received a Bachelor of Science degree from Utica College of Syracuse University. He worked as a security guard for a Syracuse medical practice. He was an army veteran and former communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Camillus. At the time of his death, Howard was a communicant and active member of St. Lucy’s Church in Altamont, where he was a member of the church choir. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed nature, especially bird watching. Howard is survived by his sister, Jean Brockley of Altamont and his brother Jack Hallenbeck of Vernon; many nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, who will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Jere Hallenbeck. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 25 in St. Joseph's Church. Howard will be laid to rest in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
