Horace E. Sherman, 81, of Camillus, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013 at home. Born in Elbridge on Thursday, October 22, 1931, he was the son of William Edward Sherman and Fannie Mae (Tanner) Sherman. He lived in Camillus since 1968. He attended Auburn Central High School and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Horace retired in 1996 after 37 years with Mead and Southern Container. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. An avid bowler, Yankees, and Giants fan, he also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and horse racing. He loved spending time with his family. Horace was predeceased by his sisters, Lily Mae Sutton, Violet Sherman, Madge Wickham, and Viola Clarke; and brother, Claire Sherman. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Joyce Marie Conway; daughter and son-in-law, Marianne and Jeffery Glose of Syracuse; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jody of Port Orange, Florida, and David and Stephen, both of Liverpool; sisters, Barbara Jakaub of Cayuga and Flossie Corfield of Auburn; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Monday, May 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be Tuesday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home and 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated.
