Hilda Sessler West, 94, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was born on Saturday, June 19, 1915 and was the daughter of William George Hepfner and Freda Traenkle Hepfner. She was a graduate of North High School. Hilda was a technician at University Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital for more than 15 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Michael´s Lutheran Church where she was also the first organist and member of the Mary Circle. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and knitting. Hilda’s first husband, Arthur J. Sessler, died in 1982 and her second husband, Walter J. West, died in 1991. Her son, Richard P. Sessler, died in 2009. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Janet L. and David Murphy of Westvale; sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Fay Sessler of Camillus and William G. and Marianne Sessler of Onondaga Hill; daughter-in-law, Harriet Sessler of Richfield Springs; brothers, George Hepfner of North Syracuse and Raymond Hepfner of Liverpool; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 20 at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Janet Fechner-Pelletier officiating. Relatives and friends may call Friday, February 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Burial will be private at the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
