Hendrikus “Henry” Gerlach, 94, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 23, 2013. Henry was a gentle, kind and generous soul who brightened the day of all he met. His passion and loves of his life were his wife of 64 years, Dina, and his family. He worked hard his entire life to make his family’s lives the best they could be. He was a great role model to all who knew him. Born in Rotterdam, Holland on Wednesday, April 9, 1919, Henry moved to the United States in 1956 and lived in The Valley before moving to Camillus in 1993. In 1984, he retired from General Motors after 20 years. He attended Onondaga Valley Presbyterian Church and volunteered at Community General Hospital. Henry was predeceased by his 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Huiberdina “Dina”; children, Astrid and Alan Hunter; grandchildren, Karen Hunter, Krista and Lindsey (Brown) Hunter, Anneke Vasquez, and Benjamin and Lindsey Hunter; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Aliyah, Danika and Ainsley, all of Camillus; and Yogi, Sam, Jake, Arizona and Libby, the family pets whom he loved. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, April 28 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev.
