Helen Theresa (Fadden) Peterson, 82, of Camillus, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 22, 2014. Born in Syracuse on July 25, 1931, she was the daughter of August J. and Mary Hawley Fadden. Helen was the sixth of eight children and last surviving sibling. She attended St. Lucy's Academy. Her most valued accomplishments were her two sons and two daughters. Her most valued treasures were her 10 grandchildren. Fond memories of Helen include her being a teenage majorette with the Gibson Marching Drum Corps and finalist in the 1951 Miss Syracuse Pageant. Her special joys included flower gardens her husband planted for her each year. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. Helen was predeceased by her parents; brothers and sisters, William, John, (August) Joseph, Mary Eagan, Richard, Irene Aller and Nancy Hayes; and her dear cousin, Mary Labulis. Surviving are her husband of nearly 61 years, Art; children, Art (Dee) Peterson Jr., Patricia (Dan) Bishop, Donna (Chris) Bucci and James Peterson; ten grandchildren, Robert Matthew, Julie Elizabeth, Brenda Elizabeth, Aaron Frederick, Amanda Cecelia, Jessica Anne, Laura Beth, Christopher John, Christine Elizabeth and Erik Vernon. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, May 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 28 at the funeral home and at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Helen will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
