Helen M. (Dinges) Stannard, 100, of Camillus, passed away on Sunday. She was born in Memphis, TN, and raised in Joliet, Illinois, where she spent her formative years. Helen's journey of love and life would take her from the Midwest to the tranquil hills of Vermont before she finally settled in Camillus in 1965.
Helen was a member of Fairmount Community Church United Church of Christ and was an inspiration to all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Helen was a former bowler and avid golfer. On the golf course, her love for the game knew no bounds, and she achieved the remarkable feat of scoring two holes-in-one at the Westvale Country Club, a testament to her dedication and love for the sport.
However, it was in the times spent with her family that Helen found the greatest joy. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her family was her greatest treasure.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Hugh E., in 2018 and her son-in-law, John Grobsmith, in 2009.
Surviving are her son, Jim (Cynthia) of Durham, CT; daughter, Susan Grobsmith of Elbridge; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Helen's wishes, there will be no formal services held. Instead, her family invites all who knew her to remember her in their own way, reflecting on the beautiful moments shared together and the love she brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you honor Helen's memory by visiting your elders and brightening their day with a sincere compliment. In this simple act of kindness, we can carry forward the spirit of love and positivity that Helen exemplified throughout her remarkable life.
