Helen “Lee” Muldoon, 92, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Lee was born on August 23, 1931, to the late John and Ruth Brittain. Her life began in New Galilee, PA, but she found her home in Camillus where she settled in 1952. Lee dedicated herself to being a full-time mother and homemaker in the early years, and later as a secretary at Community General Hospital, utilizing her impeccable organizational skills and warm personality to assist those around her. Outside of her professional life, she was also a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church.
Lee embraced numerous hobbies and passions that brought her great joy. She could be found on the golf course, honing her skills, or crafting intricate pieces through sewing and knitting. While cooking and baking were some of her favorite pastimes, Lee also had a green thumb. She carefully tended to her beautiful garden, making it a sanctuary of color and tranquility.
Lee was predeceased by her second husband, Robert Muldoon, in 2011; first husband, Robert Jenkins, in 1979; parents; sisters, Ruth Ann Beatty and Shirley Newman; and brother, John Brittain.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Joni Gravina of Camillus and Janet (James) Sampson of Florida; son, Jeffrey (Connie) Jenkins of Oregon; stepchildren, Daniel “Doon” (Anne) Muldoon of Marcellus, Nancy Martin of Syracuse, and Kate Penizotto of Liverpool; grandchildren, Lindy, Stacy, Dakota, Jamie, J.R., Rob, Kevin, Jimmy, Jeromy, Michelle, and Lauren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, January 5, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
Lee will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, CNY Chapter, 5015 Campuswood Dr., Ste. 102, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
