Helen Finkbeiner Koslowski, 82, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Crouse Hospital. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, she was born on January 9, 1933 to Agnes and Herman Finkbeiner. Helen retired from a long career with GE in the Heavy Military Department. A lifelong communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, she was very active in its Altar Rosary Society, chairman of the Lazarus Committee, and founder of the Sandwich Makers group. She was a longtime member of the Lakeland Seniors. She has also served many years at the polls with the Onondaga County Board of Elections. An active volunteer, Helen used her crafting, knitting and crocheting skills to benefit Francis House since 2005 along with the Sisters of St. Joseph in Latham and Joseph's House in Syracuse. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Anthony; her parents; and siblings. Surviving are her niece, Susan (Larry) Luck of Penrose, CO; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Stephanie Luck of Penrose, CO, and Joy, James and Wil Fisher. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, August 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 203 Halcomb St., Syracuse. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 17 at 9 a.m. in the church. Helen will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
