Harriet W. Gibbs, 84, of Camillus, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 after a brief illness. Born on Wednesday, September 3, 1924 in Waterbury, Connecticut to William and Edna Walton, she graduated from Edgewood Park Junior College in Briarcliff Manor, NY. She was employed as a secretary in Connecticut. After moving to Camillus in 1956, Harriet worked as a homemaker, Avon representative, and ballet teacher within her home. Harriet served as past president of the West Genesee Terrace Homeowner's Association in Camillus. She was an avid "catalog shopper." She recently moved to the Hearth at Greenpoint in Liverpool. Harriet was predeceased by her husband, Forbes Gibbs Jr., on November 3, 2008. Harriet is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Peter Gibbs of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Jeffrey and Beverly Gibbs of Liverpool; grandchildren, Eric (serving in the US Army in Iraq), and Kimberly of Syracuse; two great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Christine, Frank, and Dan; sister, Mary McIntyre of East Morris, Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church in Camillus where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, March 21, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Harriet will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Rd., 2nd Floor, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
