Harlan W. Hudson, 88, of Lakeland, Florida, and formerly of Camillus, passed away Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 of heart disease. He was a partner for 40 years with his three brothers in Manorcrest Farms, Camillus. Born in Plainville, he grew up in Baldwinsville, moving to Camillus in 1943 when they purchased the farm. Through the years, Harlan received widespread recognition and numerous awards for his work with registered Holstein cattle. Always active in church and local groups, he worked on the Erie Canal renovation and the Octagon House. He retired from farming in 1975 and later had a local dairy farm supply business from which he retired. Harlan moved to Florida for his health in 1988. He will be extremely missed by all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, the former Esther Lovell; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Darlene of Brandon, Florida; daughter, Jeanette and Allan Mercer of Warners; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. A memorial service was held Saturday, April 10 in Florida. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, 72 Lake Morton Dr. Lakeland, FL 33801.
