Grant William Powell, 81, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2017. Born on April 19, 1936 to the late William and Dorothy (VanPatten) Powell in Syracuse, he grew up in South Onondaga and was a Camillus resident for over 50 years. Grant was in the Army National Guard for nine years and was employed with Ridley Electric for almost 40 years, until this summer. An avid SU basketball fan, he also enjoyed live music, especially Jazz Fest, and traveling with his wife, Sue. Grant was a longtime member and past president of the Solvay-Geddes-Camillus Lions Club. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Grant was predeceased by his parents.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Sue Nonemaker; son, Mark (Kathleen); beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kelly and Jackson; sister, Donna (Fred) Sterling; sisters-in-law, Linda Snow and Virginia (Dave) Keller; six nephews; and many cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Monday, December 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be private.
