Our Amazing Grace In loving memory of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, who left her loved ones on Earth, June 6, 2016, to join her family and friends in Heaven. Our amazing Grace, of Solvay, was born on August 11, 1913 in Altman, PA to the late Antonio and Ascenza (D'Amico) Venterea. Grace was a past member of the First Christian Assembly Church in Solvay. She worked for Pass & Seymour for 40 years; first, as a punch press operator until her promotion as time-keeper/office assistant at the new Bakelite Division, where she worked until she retired. A faithful woman of God, Grace devoted her life to showing love to everyone she came in contact with. As a teenager, she volunteered as a nurse's aide, caring for patients and lifting their spirits up. She enjoyed playing everything from church hymns to Italian love ballads on her Hammond organ. She was an excellent cook and poured a lot of love into her meals as well as her beautiful crocheting, knitting and sewing for her family and friends. Her love of nature was frequently reflected by growing colorful floral gardens, and she always looked forward to reading her Bible on a daily basis. God blessed our family with such a wonderful woman for so many years with her beautiful smile, caring ways and a heart of gold. She will always be remembered as our amazing Grace. Grace was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, John; sisters, Josephine Balistreri, Matilda Missilli, Elsie Allbright, Ruth Kayn, and Nina Palmer; brothers, Orlando and Janetto Venterea; and stepdaughter, Loretta Crossett. Surviving are her daughter, Shancy (Edward) Gorman of East Syracuse; son, Sero (Jean) Opera of Cheektowaga; and brother, Thomas (Shirley) Venterea of Leominster, MA; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, who were all her pride and joy; and several nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank Crouse Hospital and Iroquois Nursing Home for all their compassion and loving care given to Grace. Relatives and friends may call Friday, June 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Czyz officiating. Grace will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Word of Life Assembly of God, 12 East Oneida St., Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
