Gordon C. Tousant, 86, of Lakeland, passed away Sunday at Crouse Hospital. Born in Carthage, NY, he was a graduate of Blodgett High School and earned an associate’s degree at Onondaga Community College. Gordon served as military police in the U.S. Army. He was a commissioner and past chief at the Lakeside Fire Department, received the Boynton Award, started the Juvenile Fire-Setters Intervention Program and was a member of the Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps. Gordon also served on the Board of Elections and Republican Committee, was a scuba and first aid/CPR instructor. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family at Suzie’s Diner and the Lakeside Firehouse.
Gordon was predeceased by his father, John Tousant; and mother, Marion Belcher.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Jean Armstrong; daughters, Tina Tousant Brand, Kelly (Michael) Slowik, and Tracey (Lawrence) Salamino; grandchildren, Michael (Tiffany), Christopher (Jennifer), Jaclyn, Angela (Jason), Shannon (Matthew), Michelle (Dave), and Alicia (Benjamin); and great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Christopher, Gunner, Brooklyn and Ariana.
Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, March 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Face masks are required. Gordon will be laid to rest at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lakeland.
