Gloria Smith, 80, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 2, 2019. She was very loving, caring, supportive and selfless. She was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing, shopping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Gloria was born in Syracuse on September 4, 1938, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Mitson. She graduated from North High School and was employed as a bookkeeper at Hathaway Bakery and also later at Wolcott Glass Shop, which she and her husband Robert purchased after moving to Wolcott, NY in the early 1970s. She retired in 2013.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was predeceased by her husband in 2011.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Theresa Smith of Liverpool, NY and Jennifer Lormand of Camillus, NY; son, Jeffrey (Dawn) Smith of Ontario, NY; granddaughters, Courtney Smith, Ashley Lormand and Paige Lormand; sister, Helene (Louis) Chistolini of Camillus, NY; brothers, James (Sally) Mitson of Agawam, MA and Alex (Faith) Mitson of Fairmount, NY; an aunt; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be private.
