Gerard “Jerry” Holm, 87, of Jamesville, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born in New York City, he was raised in W. Milford, NJ and moved to Syracuse in 1951. Jerry was a 1948 graduate of the School of Technology in Newark and 1951 graduate of SUNY Canton. He was a design engineer for General Electric, retiring in 1994 after 43 years. Jerry moved to Florida in 2000 and returned to Syracuse in 2012. He was a member of the Men's Garden Club of Syracuse and member and past president of the Gardeners of America. He was a former communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Elbridge and Ascension Catholic Church in Florida. Jerry enjoyed art and created many of the pieces hanging in his apartment. Other interests included reading, traveling, photography and cruises but above all, he loved spending time with his family. Jerry was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Holm, in 2010; and son-in-law, Jeff Howard, in 2015. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Marilyn “Mickey” McVay; daughters, Karen (Richard) Powell of White River Junction, VT, Pamela (Michael) Marmon of Hastings, Lisa Howard of Chittenango and Amy (Jeff) Loan of Syracuse; sons, Chris (Terry) Holm of Simsbury, CT and Brian (Kim) Holm of Baldwinsville; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call Sunday, May 29 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
