Geraldine "Gerry" M. Schmidt

Geraldine "Gerry" M. Schmidt, 87, formerly of Orchard Village in Camillus, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the Episcopal Church Home in Rochester. Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, she was a graduate of Mount Marie Academy in Canton, OH. Gerry and her husband, Bob enjoyed living in Michigan and Indiana before moving to Camillus in 1972. Gerry raised ten children, was devout in her faith and active in St. Joseph’s Church, serving in the Altar & Rosary Society. She volunteered for the Erie Canal Park, Meals on Wheels and the Octagon House. She loved antiquing, quilting and preparing delicious meals for family and friends. Gerry made holidays special, transforming the family home with her snow village. She and Bob enjoyed traveling around the country and they wintered in Largo, FL. Most recently, she resided in Rochester at Atria Senior Living.

Gerry was predeceased by her husband, Robert “Bob”; and daughter, Suellen Cornett.

Surviving are her children, Robert Jr. (Marilyn) of Bremen IN, Timothy (Glenda) of Sutherlin, OR, Virginia (Peter) Iwanicki of Skaneateles, Edward (Diane) of Lititz, PA, John (Ruby) of Ephrata, PA, Patrick (Kim) of Spencerport, Andrew of Manlius, Mary (Robb) Ford of Spring Hill, TN and Lucille (Edward) Milliken of Fresno, OH; sister, Ellen O’Laughlin; brother, James Schratz; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

There will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 27 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Camillus. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
