Gerald R. Parsons, 83, of Syracuse, born on October 6, 1933, in Belle Island, Newfoundland, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at University Hospital.
Gerald was a man of honesty, always willing to help a neighbor or anyone in need. His love for his wife and children was endless. A great husband, father, and friend, he will be sorely missed.
Before coming to the United States in 1958, Gerald worked in the Iron Ore Mines on Bell Island, Newfoundland. He retired from Crouse Hinds and Syracuse Pottery.
Gerald was predeceased by his sons, Mario, in 1958 and Douglas, in 2012; son-in-law, Louis Everding; his parents; and brothers and sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Helen (Quigley) Parsons; his children, Bernice (Reed) Tarolli, Beverly Everding, Philip (Patricia) Parsons and Jerry (Debbie) Parsons; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (Tony) Tarzia; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 13 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
Services will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
