Gerald “Jerry” Willis, 79, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Van Duyn Home & Hospital. Born in Nichols, New York on Sunday, February 12, 1933, he was the son of William Edson Willis and Angeline Elizabeth Williams Willis. He lived in Johnson City until moving to Camillus in 2001. Jerry was a 1951 graduate of Johnson City High School and veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired after 35 years with Link Aviation, Inc. in Binghamton and was a faithful servant of our Lord at Westover United Methodist Church in Johnson City. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Joyce Marie Striley; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Brenda of Camillus; daughter, Kathy Phelan of Binghamton; grandchildren, Pamela and Seth Willis of Camillus; special brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Donna Willis of Constantia; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Jim Monk of Hunlock Creek, Pennsylvania; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Van Duyn, especially 4 South, for all their care and compassion. Relatives and friends may call Monday, June 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
