Gerald “Gerry” S. Inman, 68, of Camillus, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014. Born and raised in Ithaca, he resided in Syracuse and Camillus for 34 years. Gerald graduated from Ithaca High School in 1963, Tompkins Community College in 1970 and Cornell University in 1972. He received his master's degree from SUNY Binghamton in 1978. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, Gerry was employed for 22 years with Mutual of New York, retiring in 2002. He was also formerly employed by the State of New York and GTE. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the VA Medical Center, and enjoyed traveling, especially to Arizona. He cherished the time he spent with family and friends. Gerald was predeceased by his sisters, Nancy Turner and Helen Snyder. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the former Susan Abbott; daughter, Amy Inman and son, Stephen Inman, both of Syracuse; sisters, Phyllis (Jeffrey) Backner Wilson of Ballston Spa, Laura Keese of Tacoma, WA and Rose Marie (Steve Garfinkle) Inman of Cold Spring; brother, David of San Francisco, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, February 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Funeral Mass and burial will be private.
