George R. Longmuir, 90, of Camillus, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday at VA Medical Center. He was president and owner of Sentinel Security of CNY, retiring in 1987. During retirement, he and his late wife, Dorothy, enjoyed camping, boating and always their grandson, Brian. George was employed with the Camillus Parks and Rec. and the Camillus Police Dept., where he served as a crossing guard. A VFW Post #5284 commander of Fairmount, George also was a member of the American Legion Knifetown, Post #1540. He was given the Conspicuous Award by Governor George Pataki and Senator John DeFranciso for his excellence in military service. His greatest joy was playing Santa Claus to various nursing homes and hospitals. George was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; son, Keith; sister, Florence Jones; and brother, Bertin Longmuir. Surviving are his daughter and caregiver, Eileen (Edward Morgan) Olejarczyk; grandson, Brian (Brandi) Olejarczyk; step-granddaughter, Kristyn (Pete) Cutler; great-granddaughter, Riley Jane; step great-grandson, Russell Cutler; and to his children as he often called them, his dogs, Kelly, Maggie, Maxwell and Basiley. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the ICU Department of the VA Medical Center. You don't get recognized enough for the work you do. You are truly angels. There will be no calling hours. George will be laid to rest in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.
