George "John" C. Raite

January 14, 1922 — January 25, 2015

John "George" C. Raite, 93, of Solvay,passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Loretto. A lifetime resident of Solvay, he enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.   George was a barber and owner of Raite Hairstyling for 65 years, retiring in 2009.  He attended First Christian Assembly.  He enjoyed growing tomatoes and spending time with his family.    George was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Constance, in 2010; grandson, Timothy Clark, in 1987; brothers, Angelo, Joseph and Samuel; and sisters, Rose, Jean, Constance, Virginia and Fannie.   Surviving are his daughters, Carol (Larry) Smith of Knoxville, TN, Laureen (Gerardo) Mastronardi of Syracuse and Jacqueline (Scott) Mack, of Camillus; sister, Grace of Washington; brother, Michael of Syracuse; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.   Relatives and friends may call Sunday, February 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.   A funeral service will be Monday, February 2 at 10 a.m. in First Christian Assembly, 705 Hamilton St., Syracuse.  George will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.   In lieu of flowers,contributionsmay be made to Teen Challenge of Syracuse, P.O.
