George "Duke" Robert LeFever, 74, of Camillus, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2017 at home with his loving best buddy, his wife, by his side after a long illness. A lifetime resident of Syracuse, George was employed with R.E. Dietz Co. and was president of the LGL General Press Metal Partnership. An avid outdoorsman, George spent his summers at Klein Island where he was known as a "river rat," which lead to his lifelong love of the Seneca River. He was a quiet, gentle man with a loving, patient heart and subtle offbeat sense of humor. George was a man of many opinions which he gladly shared on many occasions with the readers of The Post Standard. His editorial comments will be greatly missed. George's greatest joys in life were making memories with his wife, spending time with his loving son, bantering with his brother, and in the last months, feeling a fresh breeze from an open window while enjoying the peaceful view of Camillus Park from the bed in his favorite room.
George was predeceased by parents, George and Irene LeFever; sister, Mary Elizabeth Cole; and his forever little fur ball friend, Missy the Kitty.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, the love of his life, Lynn (Fenocchi) LeFever; son, Christopher (Katie Shoultz) LeFever of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, William (Marsha) LeFever of Baldwinsville; aunt, Josephine Matthews of Pittsburgh, PA; brother-in-law, Robert (Marcia) Fenocchi of Camillus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, March 21 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
