George Petty Jr., 69, of Fairmount, died Friday, December 7, 2007 at home. Born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 16, 1938, he was the son of George Brehm Petty Sr. and Anna Mellon Petty. He lived in Morea, Pennsylvania until moving to Syracuse in 1960. He was a graduate of Mahanoy Township High School in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania and was a Navy veteran. He was a 1970 graduate of Syracuse University. George founded MCL Industries Inc. along with his wife Sharon in 1984. His dedication and commitment to his customers, suppliers and employees will be carried out by his wife and children. George was a communicant of Holy Family Church, member and past president of the American Diabetes Association and member of the American Heart Association. George was a beloved husband of 40 years, devoted father and grandfather, wonderful son and brother and loyal friend and businessman. He adored his five grandsons and they adored their Pop-Pop. He will be missed by all that knew him. His father, George B. Petty Sr., died October 14, 2001. Surviving are his wife, the former Sharon Stoyan; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Paul Keyes of Camillus; sons and daughter-in-law, Christopher Petty of Camillus and Matthew and Amy Moon Petty of Westvale; mother, Anna Mellon Petty of Fairmount; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melanie and Tony Vannucci of Syracuse and Sharon and Dan Burkhard of Sun City West, Arizona and grandsons, Jason, Jaryd, Jeremy, Eamonn and Ethan. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus and at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Friends may call Tuesday, December 611, 2007 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
